What would it be like to listen to your seals gliding on the snow while your eyes bathe in the Aurora Borealis?

We invite you to ski together in flawless snow, close to the end of the world! We've chosen a small town close to the Arctic Circle, tucked away in a cosy fjord in northern Iceland. Once upon a time, the island's most northerly town bustled with people, goods and fishing boats as the island crossed the peak of its fishing industry - the Herring Era.

Today, the bustle has given way to peace and beauty.

We go to Siglufjörður.

While you're struggling to pronounce the name of the little fishing village, we're adding some more info on what will be the most unique skiing holiday you've ever experienced: 🐋 because the weather is highly unpredictable but the options to choose from are endless we're strategically based - with a ski resort nearby, on the edge of the Arctic Ocean, with complementary activities on offer 🐋 we have a car at our disposal so we can choose the most suitable area each day for the tour. But also so we can hunt the Northern Lights! 🐋 Ski Touring Iceland without thermal baths is like... put your favourite here. But we made sure to put that in the programme :) 🐋 The drive from the airport is an adventure and a beautiful foray into Iceland's arctic landscape. We punctuate it with a few stops at volcanoes, waterfalls and Geysere

Frequent Questions

  • What's the weather like in Iceland in March? Not too cold?

    Nope.

Iceland has an ocean-influenced climate so we don't get extreme cold here. With a few short-lived exceptions, just like back home.

The local weather, however, is very changeable - from clear with sunshine to blizzard with whiteout in just a few minutes and back to sunshine!

We've been going to Iceland in autumn/winter every year since 2015 so we know how to flex the programme depending on the weather and compensate with alternative activities or suitable destinations.

  • Can I find hire equipment there?

Yes, both downhill skiing, snowboarding and freeridetouring.

    Write to us for details.

  • Which touring skis should I take with me?

Locals prefer wider skis under the soles even if they are heavier.

The climbs and positive level differences are not very big so a slightly heavier gear is not uncomfortable.â

In general 9o-106 mm under the sole (depending on the skier) is convenient.

Please note, it is advisable to have spare parts for the equipment as they are difficult to find locally (elastic fasteners for seals, glue, toolkit, etc).

  • Do we bring avalanche kit from home or hire it there?

    Both options are ok.

But keep in mind that Iceland is NOT a cheap country.

  • Which travel insurance is right for you?

We recommend Global Rescue or similar (to cover the cost of evacuation from the accident site together with hospitalisation costs, without hospitalisation).
